Mr F. G. Hall-Jones, district governor of Rotary for New Zealand, Mr S. M. Macalister, president, and Mr W. H. Coltman, a member of the Invercargill Rotary Club, will leave today to attend an international night at Dunedin this evening. Mr Hall-Jones is to be the chief speaker at the meeting. ■

Mr W. Grieve was reappointed the representative of the Southland Education Board on the executive of the Southland Progress League at the meeting of the board yesterday. Mr Alan Strang, who has been on the staff of the Union Bank of Australia at Invercargill for the past four and a-half years, has been transferred on promotion to the Oamaru branch of the bank. Mr Strang, who is honorary secretary of the Southland Boys High School Old Boys’ Association, will leave for Oamaru on Tuesday.

Mr Harold Gatty, representative of Pan-American Airways in New Zealand and Australia sailed from Auckland last night by the Wanganella for Sydney to pay a brief visit to his relations in Australia.

Mr C. M.- Green, who has been on the staff of the Gore telephone exchange for the last two years, has been transferred to Tapanui.

The Timaru Presbytery at a special meeting sustained a call by the Chalmers Church to the Rev. Malcolm W. Wilson, of York, England. It was announced that Mr Wilson was prepared to accept the call and would leave England on September 10. In the meantime, the Rev. Dr Thomas (Chicago), who is travelling abroad on vacation, .will supply the charge. He is due at Timaru on July 9.—Press Association.

Mr Oscar ; Garden, formerly of Christchurch, who flew from England to Australia in 1930, has passed his chief navigator’s exatnination. Mr Garden has been engaged in commercial flying for some time and is employed by British Airways, Limited.

Mr C. H. Taylor, jun., has been elected president of the Christchurch Rotary Club, and Dr L. C. L. Averill has been elected vice-president.

Lieutenant H. G. A. Lewis, R.N., has been appointed to fill the position to be vacated in H.M.S. Philomel when Lieutenant P. R. W. McMaster returns to England. Lieutenant Lewis will sail for New Zealand by the Rangitane on July 21. At present he is in H.M.S. Hyperion.

Mr T. R. Toovey, late chief assistant to the general manager, will relieve Captain A. W. Pearse as representative for the Port of London Authority for Australia and New Zealand on July 1. Captain Pearce held the position for 16 years and has received an illuminated resolution of thanks from the board for his services.
