PROBABLE MAJORITY IN DAIL ANGLO-IRISH PACT WINS MANY VOTES (Received June 21, 1.10 a.m.) • LONDON, June 20. The latest return of the state of the parties in the Eire election is as follows: De Valera Party 66 Cosgrave Party 39 Labour 5 Independents 6 The final results should be known during the night. It is believed that Mr de Valera is assured of a majority of four of the seven parties. Mr de Valera’s party thus far has not lost a seat and has had five gains—four from Labour and one from Mr W. T. Cosgrave’s party. Mr de Valera’s success is attributed to the Anglo-Irish pact, which won thousands of votes. The Labour leader, Mr William Norton, was re-elected.

Mr de Valera’s Ministry in the last Dall Elreann depended on the Labour Party to maintain it in power. Party strengths in the Dail were:— Flanna Fall (de Valera Party) 68 Fine Gael (Cosgrave Party) 48 Independent 8 Labour 13 Speaker 1

Thus, in the last Parliament, all other parties, excluding the Speaker, had a majority of one over the Government Party.
