COMMUNITY SING

GRAND NATIONAL NIGHT A feature of Thursday night’s community sing will be the appearance of a Maori party from Bluff in hakas, songs and poi dances. A special number will be the aeroplane poi written to commemorate the arrival in New Zealand of Miss Jean Batten. Variety will be added by the appearance of the wonder dog Rajah, and lovers of animals should not miss this opportunity of seeing the Alsatian in action. The pupils of Mr Alex Sutherland will appear in national and tap dancing and the Troubadours Dance Band will give several dance items. Mr R. L. Pettit will play violin solos and the popular baritone Mr J. Pringle, will make a welcome reappearance. Mr F. G. HallJones has accepted a challenge to appear and will be heard in various numbers. Miss Jessie Hodges, who is well known for her yodelling, will again appear. In the opening number all these artists will appear together with the song leaders and helpers on the stage in a concerted number. Patrons are advised to book for this speciallyarranged programme.
