MONEY AND MARKETS

MINING SHARES DOWN ON INVERCARGILL EXCHANGE

Little interest continues to be taken in banking shares on the Invercargill Stock Exchange. Commercials are steady with buyers at 15/8, and Unions remain unchanged at £8 5/-. The insurance market is a quiet one. Commonwealth industrials had little buying support and the market for some of the leading lines is an easier one. New Zealand issues are steady but quiet. Oil companies’ shares .continue to receive some attention, but the market yesterday was not quite so active. Australian mining issues .showed no improvement, Broken Hills, Mount Lyells and Electrolytic Zincs all being at low levels.

SYDNEY (Received June 17, 9.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 17. Dull conditions on the overseas markets continue to exert a depressing influence on the Sydney Stock Exchange, resulting in industrial shares further weakening. The undertone of the market, however, is quite healthy. - Sales:— £ s d
