OPENING OF EMPIRE EXHIBITION
KING AND QUEEN TO VISIT
GLASGOW
(British Official Wireless) RUGBY, May 2. King George and Queen Elizabeth will leave Euston station shortly before midnight by the Royal train for Glasgow for the opening of the Empire Exhibition tomorrow. Intense interest has been aroused in Scotland over the Royal visit and State pageantry will mark their Majesties’ drive through the city to the exhibition grounds. Four of the famous Windsor grey horses will draw the Royal landau and, with postilions and outriders, they have already arrived. The New Zealand Pavilion at the Glasgow Exhibition displays striking features, including Maori poles 35 feet high on each side of the entrance, states a message from London. Trophies of the chase, examples of primary and secondary industries and vivid scenic panoramas augment the attractiveness of the exhibition. The staffs at the New Zealand and Australian pavilions are working all night in preparation for the Royal visit on Tuesday, and in contrast to the others, which are behind schedule, New Zealand’s and Australia’- work is almost over.
