A packed house in the Town Hall tojiight was given a thrill in the last two rounds of the professional bout between the American negro ‘Tiger Parkes 10.2, and the promising young Southlander, Dick Baker 10.0. Parkes lived up to his ring name in those two rounds, unleashing some two-handed punching that had Baker down for three long counts and brought him from behind for a decision on points. He proved a great counter fighter and was satisfied to. make Baker do all the work for the first three rounds. The Southlander showed pace and aggressiveness and he was wise always to have a wholesome respect for .the power that the negro carried in 'his glove. , , , Parkes won the first three rounds by the speed of his countering, but Baker measured him more successfully, and his aggressiveness gave him. slightly Ithe better of the next six rounds. The inegro went after him in the eleventh round and vicious short lefts and rights put him down twice for a count ot ni ßaker kept out of his Way for the remainder of the round and took up the running again in the last round. Parkes was waiting to make another burst and it came towards the end of the round when he brought up a left and Baker stayed down for another count of nine.
