Better Tone At Yesterday’s Call-over

There was a brighter tone on the Invercargill Stock Exchange yesterday morning. Australian industrials and metal companies’ shares all showed firmer markets. Woolworths Ltd. were active round about 27/3 and Broken Hill Proprietary and G. J. Coles made gains. Nearly all the metal concerns sold at higher prices and there were buyers for Mount Lyells, Mount Morgans and Broken Hills at higher levels. Banking shares were unchanged, although the inquiry appeared more pronounced. New Zealand industrials were quiet. Sales were reported of Woolworths Ltd. at 27/2 and 27/7 and of Mount Morgans at 10/-.
