LABOUR RIVALS IN N.S.W.

NEW ZEALANDER TO LEAD REBELS ORGANIZED EFFORT TO OUST MR LANG (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received February 24, 6.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 24. A meeting of industrial workers opposed to Mr J. T. Lang elected as their leader Mr R. Heffron, a member of the Legislative Assembly. He will lead a number of union candidates against official Australian Labour Party candidates at the New South Wales elections. The decision indicates that for the first time in the history of the New South Wales Labour movement rival

labour leaders and rival candidates, each claiming to represent the workers, will contest the elections. The meeting also endorsed Mr J. Hooker as Labour candidate against Mr Lang in the Auburn electorate and resolved to concentrate all its forces upon bringing about the defeat of Mr Lang. Mr Heffron was born at Thames, New Zealand, and was actively associated with the New Zealand Labour movement about 20 years ago.
