WOMEN’S DIVISION
GROVE BUSH At the monthly meeting of the Grove Bush Branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union Mrs Coveney presided over a good attendance of, members. Misses Wilkie and Hargest were present by invitation. A motion of sympathy with Mrs Paulin in the death of her niece was carried. An invitation was received to the social at Ryal Bush to celebrate the branch’s birthday. The roll call was “A recipe for toffee.” Miss Wilkie, who has spent some years teaching in a girls’ college in Ceylon, gave a talk on conditions in that country and showed photographs of places of interest. She was accorded a vote of thanks and received a bouquet arranged by the president and presented by Miss Rita Warden. The result of competitions for this meeting were: Pot of apricot jam (nine entries): Mrs Walsh and Miss E, Coveney 1, Miss J. Coveney 2, Mrs Cooper 3. Decorated- floating bowl (nine entries): Mrs Warden 1, Mrs Duggan 2, Mrs Coveney 3. Best bloom (10 entries): Mrs Warden 1, Mrs Paul 2, Miss Duggan 3.
