FIVE BODIES FOUND IN HARBOUR

VICTIMS OF TRAGEDY AT SYDNEY (Received February 18, 6.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 18. Five bodies of victims of the disaster to the launch Rodney, which capsized last Sunday, were recovered by the police in various parts of the harbour this morning. This makes 17 bodies recovered and two are still missing. Inquiries, however, are now being made about a young couple and a baby who, according to two survivors, were in the Rodney’s cabin just before the launch overturned. The bodies recovered were those of: Enid Cookson, aged 7. Violet Larsen, aged 15. Dulcie Rasmussen, aged 27. Betty Rasmussen, aged 10. Lora Giles, aged 18. The two persons still known to be missing are Mrs Erica Davies, aged 40, and Miss Nellie Scott, aged 20. Several of the victims were the sole breadwinners of their homes. Three of the bodies recovered today were floating off Bradley’s Head, near where the launch foundered. The two others were some distance away.

The pilot of 'the liner Niagara reported sighting a body off Bradley’s Head which he believed was that of another victim, but although the police searched until a late hour last night with powerful torches the body was not 'recovered. t The Lord Mayor’s relief fund has reached a total of £514.
