The total amount realized for all wool (greasy and scoured) sold in Australia during the first six months of the present season was £21,028,122, as compared with £27,521,848 for the same period last season—a decline of £6,493,276. The average price realized for greasy wool during the six months was 13.66 d a lb compared with 15.12 d last season.
A Marlborough farmer had an unusual and exciting experience last week. While he was riding along a narrow track his horse was attacked by a swarm of bees, and after the horse had careered around for some time the rider scrambled off, suffering severe bruises in the fall. The maddened horse lumped over a cliff and was killed.
