SHE KNOWS IRELAND’S SECRETS
MR de VALERA’S PRIVATE SECRETARY
An interesting Irish woman who recently visited England is Miss Kathleen O’Connell, the private secretary to Mr de Valera who travelled with him when he went to England to discuss the Irish question with members of the Government.
Miss O’Connell is the centre of many legends. She is private secretary .to Mr de Valera, who has been discussing the Irish question with members of the Government. She is as reticent and tactful as one in her position must be, and the few Dublin people who have met her still know very little about her. She dresses very simply, admires Mr de Valera intensely, and has known him for 15 years. Rumours says that she drives to her work in Government Buildings in a police car with drawn blinds—but it is only rumour.
