GOLF SUBSCRIPTION RAISED INVERCARGILL LADIES’ CLUB Two important motions, one suggesting that the subscription for playing members be raised, and the other that an honorarium be paid to the secre.-_ tary, were discused at the annual meeting of the Invercargill Ladies’ Golf Club yesterday. In the absence of the president, Mrs J. A. Pottinger, a vice-president, Mrs J. K. Garrett, presided. The annual report and balance-sheet (previously published) were adopted. In explaining the motion that the subscription for playing members be raised to £3 13/6 with a rebate of 10/6 if paid before June 30, Mrs Garrett said that the increased subscription would include levies for club matches, international levy, prize levy and the public risk insurance, but would not include levies for the Southland championships or for country day matches. The motion was carried.

The suggestion that the secretary and treasurer should receive an honorarium of 15 guineas a year and that her duties should include preparing the weekly draw for matches was also carried. This money was to be taken from the sum handed to the Invercargill Golf Club every year and not from the ladies’ club’s funds. It was also decided that the club championships be held in March or April instead of later in the season, and that bus fares for those travelling to and from the links in other members’ cars be abolished.

The following officers were elected:— President, Mrs J. K. Garrett; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames C. C. Anderson and A. E. Smith; captain, Mrs F. G. HallJones; deputy-captain, Mrs J. D. Speirs; secretary and treasurer, Mrs P. J Israel (re-elected); committee, Mesdames J. A. Pottinger. W. F. Clouston, W. E. Hazlett and Miss M. Stout; hon. auditor, Mr F. H. Hughes.
