OBITUARY
MR J. W. NOLAN (United Press Association) GISBORNE, February 16. The death has occurred of Mr Janies Wrey Nolan, at the age of 83. He was the oldest surviving member of the legal profession in Gisborne and a well-known racing administrator. He was formerly a representative cricketer and footballer and a member of local bodies. MISS L. C. MACLEOD AUCKLAND, February 17. The death has occurred after a long illness of Miss Louisa Campbell Macleod, formerly of the New Zealand Army Nursing Service. The funeral took place at Waikumete . Cemetery, Miss Macleod being the first woman to be buried in the returned soldiers’ plot there. Miss Macleod received her nursing training at Christchurch hospital. In May 1915 she left- for the Great War and for the next four years worked in Egypt and at the New Zealand military hospital at Codford, England. In 1919 she returned to New Zealand and spent several more years nursing in military camps. About 10 years ago Miss Macleod came to Auckland and was engaged in private nursing.
