NO SHIPPING OVER THE WEEK-END
FOUR VESSELS DUE ON MONDAY There will be no overseas or coastal vessels at the Bluff wharves during the week-end and all will be quiet on the waterfront until Monday. On Monday four vessels are expected to berth, the Union Steam Ship Company’s transTasman liner Maunganui, from Wellington, the Karetu, from Lyttelton, the Waipahi, from Wellington, and the Canterbury Steam Shipping Company’s Breeze, also from Wellington. With the exception of the Maunganui, which is expected to sail on the Tuesday, all these ships, weather permitting, will leave the port the same day. The only cargo vessel in port yesterday was the Union Company’s coastal trader Waimarino, which arrived in the morning and sailed in the evening for Dunedin. This ship brought in her cargo for discharge 19 motor-cars, several tractors and a launch. General cargo, including a quantity of sugar, was also discharged and 300 tons of miscellaneous merchandise taken aboard.
