BURGLAR BITTEN BY WATCH DOG
VIENNESE COURT AWARDS DAMAGES VIENNA, January 13. After serving nine months’ imprisonment a burglar was awarded damages against a householder whose dog bit him on the night of his crime. The dog was found standing over the burglar who was caught with his booty. The villa bore a notice “warning against a dangerous dog.” Therefore, argued the burglar, it was clear that the owner knew that the dog was unsafe, yet failed to keep it muzzled according to the law. He claimed that he was entitled to a verdict whether he was a burglar, postman, tinker or tailor.
