ANNUAL MEETING OF* SWIMMING CLUB
CARNIVAL TO BE HELD THIS MONTH At the annual meeting of the Lumsden Swimming Club the president (Mr W. Johnson) was chairman. The report stated that no carnival had been held last year because of the infantile paralysis epidemic. .. . Mr Johnson was re-elected president and Mr S. Menzies secretary. . | It was decided to hold a swimming carnival on January 29. Messrs T. Ibbotson, T. Soper and the president were appointed a sub committee to draw up a suitable programme. Arrangements were made to hold a working bee to carry out improvements' to the swimming area. BOWLING CLUB Keen interest is' being taken in bowls by the members of the newly-formed club and numerous visitors have been attracted to the green. A challenge for the club’s silver button competition was played when Sims and Johnson (holders) beat Campbell and Biggar, 16-13. In the women’s club a challenge for the Silver Fem was played when the holders, Mesdames J. Campbell, T. Ibbotson, J. Marshall and B. Humphries, beat Mesdames G. Cook, A. Cook, A. McDonald and L. Upchurch in a closely contested game. RECENT RAIN The countryside has a fresher appearance after the recent heavy rains and prospects for a good supply of winter feed appear more bright.
