The Attorney-General (the Hon. H. G. R. Mason), who has been on a short visit to Stewart Island returned to Invercargill yesterday. He is to leave for the north this morning.
It is probable that the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry), who will represent New Zealand at the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary celebrations of Australia, will leave Auckland on Tuesday next for Sydney by the Awatea. Mr Parry will be accompanied by Mrs Parry and his private secretary, Mr E. N. G. Poulton, C.B.E.—Press Association.
Mr Ernest E. Sharp, M.1.E.E., of London, director of Venner Time Switches Ltd., New Malden, Surrey, England, is visiting Invercargill, accompanied by Mrs Sharp. The Rev. J. A. Allan, professor designate of New Testament studies in the Presbyterian Theological Hall, is expected to arrive in Dunedin on January 27, before taking up his duties at Knox College in March. Mr Allan, a New Zealander, studied in Scotland. Mr A. G. Brash, B.V.Sc., who recently graduated at the Sydney University Veterinary College, returned to his home at Titiroa this week, having travelled from Australia by the Maunganui.
A distinguished New Zealander, Colonel S. R. Davidson, C. 8., C.M.G., now of Dornoch, Scotland, formerly colonel of 47th D.C.O, Sikhs, India, is revisiting the Dominion. Colonel Davidson was born in India 68 years ago, the son of Major-general A. G. Davidson, of the Indian Army. He was a pupil at Nelson College about the same time as Lord Rutherford, and he later returned to India and joined the army there. He took part in the Relief of Chitral in 1895, has served in Somaliland, in the European War in France, and in Mesopotamia and has several times been mentioned in despatches.
