JAPAN SEEKING TRADE
DELEGATION ARRIVES IN WELLINGTON TOUR OF THE DOMINION PROPOSED (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 27. To foster trade between Japan and New Zealand a delegation from the Exporters’ Association of Osaka arrived in Wellington by the Awatea today. At the head of the delegation is Mr T. Mitsugi, secretary to the Osaka Municipal Office. Other members are Messrs T. Katayama, of Azumi and Co. Ltd., M. Kitagawa, of Hamaguchi & Co., Inc., and A. Kishimoto, of Yamamoto Takego Ltd. In the Dominion the visitors are being looked after by Mr S. Fuse, of F. Kanematsu (N.Z.), Ltd. The delegation came to New Zealand after a month’s tour of Australia and will remain here until January 21. They travelled south by the steamer express •tonight and will return on December 30, going to Auckland on January 9 and leaving for Sydney by the Monterey on January 21. Trade shows will be held in Wellington and Auckland. Osaka is the Birmingham of the East, Mr Fuse said today. Fifty-nine big manufacturing concerns were members of the Exporters’ Association. They had adopted a policy of sending delegates all over the world to introduce their merchandise. Among the goods manufactured in and exported from Osaka are electrical apparatus, handkerchiefs, thermos flasks, haberdashery, insecticides, stationery, buttons, bicycle parts, enamel ware and medicines.
