ELECTRICAL SCHEMES IN BRITAIN
WORLD’S BIGGEST COOLING STATION AT BIRMINGHAM (British Official Wireless) (Received December 22, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, December 21. Schemes costing £3,000,000 for increasing the electrical output have recently been sanctioned by the Central Electricity Board. The biggest of the schemes is for extension of the power station at Birmingham, a feature of which will be a cooling tower with a capacity of 5,000,000 gallons an hour; It will be the largest in the world. The scheme will cost £1,500,000 and is to be completed in 1941.
