Crosbie, Albany street, are spending a holiday _at Akaroa. They will spend the Christmas holidays at Timaru. Mr and Mrs H. Chapman, of Dunedin, are the guests of Mr and Mrs H. Oswin, Rock street. . Mrs E. F. Selby, Thomas street, leaves this week for Levin, en route to Tauranga, where she will spend the Christmas holidays. Mrs C. M. Wilson, Willis street, who has been on an extended visit to England, returned home last week-end. Mrs W. S. Marriot, of Christhurch, is the guest of her aunt, Mrs J. Gardiner, William street. Miss E. Piper, of Dunedin, is the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs F. V. Piper, Albany street. Mrs J. E. Rogers, Irk street, has returned home from a holiday spent at Fairlie, where she was the guest of her daughter, Mrs G. Armitage. , Mr and Mrs David Robertson ana family, of Hamilton, will be the guests of Mrs W. Scobie, Albany street, for the Christmas holidays. Mrs S. W. Jocard, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs J. Gardiner, William street Miss Jean Henderson, Onslow street, who has been spending an extended holiday in Great Britain and' the Continent returned to Gore by last evening’s express. , , , Miss W. Gerken, of Ettrick, who has been the guest of Mrs G. McLeod, Ardwick street, returns home today. Mrs M. Stanfield, of Melbourne, is the guest of Mrs S. Preece, William street. Mr'and Mrs A. J. Hawke, Denton street, will spend the Christmas holidays at Timaru. . Mrs L. Noble, of Dunedin, is the guest of Mrs S. Preece, William street. Mrs H. A. Price, Denton street, and her small son, will leave for Dunedin today, where they will spend the Christmas holidays. ■ Mr and Mrs R. B. Bannerman, Willis street, and family, will spend the Christmas holidays at the Riverton Rocks. Mr and Mrs J. A. S. Aitken, Albany street, will spend the Christmas holidays at Pembroke. Miss F. McHutcheson Thomas street, leaves today for Dunedin, where she will spend the Christmas holidays. Miss I. D. Sutherland, Albany street, is spending the school holidays at Balclutha. , Miss S. Henry, Wigan street, will spend the Christmas holidays at Dunedin. Miss P. Cooney, Redmond street, will spend the Christmas holidays at Lake Wanaka.

Mr and Mrs R. Gerken, Elizabeth street, were welcomed home by a number of friends on Tuesday when the evening was spent in musical items and competitions. Mr M. Roche presented Mrs Gerken with a salad bowl on behalf of those present, _ and wished her and Mr Gerken happiness. Items were given by Mr and Mrs G. Mitchell, Mr and Mrs Gerken and Miss N. Kelly. Among those present were Mr and Mrs M. Roche (Mandeville), Mr and Mrs W. Turnbull, Mr and Mrs G. Mitchell, Mr and Mrs P. Tregarthan, Mrs J. Scott and Miss N. Kelly. Mrs H. Oswin, Rock street, entertained a number of friends at a party last week in honour of Mr and Mrs F. V. Piper, who are leaving Gore for Ashburton in January. Among those present were Mr and Mrs F. V. Piper, Mr and Mrs A. L. Dolamore, Mr and Mrs H. A. Price, Mr and Mrs A. B. Caverhill, Mr and Mrs J. A. Edwards, Mr and Mrs A. Wilson, Mr and Mrs J. M. Boyne, Mr and Mrs H. Chapman (Dunedin); Mesdames D. M. Cochrane, W. Williams; Misses F. McHutcheson, B. Gibbs, and J. Oswin; Messrs B. Cochrane and J. Y. Allen. The women members of the Gore Golf Club entertained Mrs F.
