HEAVY CHRISTMAS TRAFFIC
CARGO STEAMERS TAKING CARS ACROSS STRAIT (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 21. There is going to be record Christmas traffic between the North and South Islands, for bookings for all previous years have been passed. If passenger figures are heavy, the demand for the transport of cars has been extraordinary. Cargo steamers are taking cars that cannot be carried by the regular inter-island vessels. The indicatibns are for a record Christmas season. Wellington shops are very busy and on all hands there is satisfaction with the extent and value of purchases.
