STOCK SALE AT ADDINGTON

RECORD ENTRIES OF LAMBS PRICES REALIZED ABOVE EXPORT RATES (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, December 21. The entries in the fat lamb section at the double market at Addington today were a record for a pre-Christmas sale, but other classes of stock were in normal numbers. The mutton sale was a keen one. Store Sheep.—There was a very small entry, mostly of wethers, which sold at up to 27/5 for outstanding sorts. Ewes and lambs made to 19/5. Fat Lambs.—Four thousand and four hundred were penned. The sale was firm throughout at from B|d to BJd, or above export rates, but there was some buying on export account Butchers bought heavily. X Fat Sheep.—There was an average sized yarding and a keen sale, best wethers being 4/- to 4/6 better than last week, and lighter and ewes 2/6. Best wethers made from 32/6 to 35/-, special to 37/10, good. 29/6 to 32/-, inferior down to 24/-, best ewes 25/- to 27/-, special to 30/-, good 22/- to 24/and inferior down to 15/-. Fat Cattle.—Four hundred and fifty were penned. Good beef was better by 10/- a head. Best steers made from £l4 to £l6, tops to £l7 7/6, good £l2 10/- to £l3 15/-, light down to £10; best heifers to £l3 2/6 and cows to £l2 12/6. Best steer beef made from 37/- to 39/- a 1001 b, special to 41/-, good 35/- to 36/6, medium and heavy to 34/6, and rough down to 26/-. Fat Pigs.—Porkers sold more firmly, averaging from 6jd to 6fd a lb. Baconers were easier and sold at up to 61 d.

GORE STOCK SALE A small yarding of stock was forward at the fortnightly Gore stock sale yesterday, and, with the exception of a line of fat wethers, all the pens offered were sold. Recent district rates were maintained in the majority of cases. Sales were:— National Mortgage and Agency Co. Ltd.—Ten fat wethers at 29/3, 8 do. at 27/9, 8 do. at 27/-, 3 fat ewes at 23/3, 1 fat cow at £7 15/—, 1 do. at £5. Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. — Eight fat ewes at 20/6, 2 fat wethers at 27/-, 2 fat heifers at £7, 2 fat steers at £8 2/6, 1 fat heifer at £6, 1 do. at £5 10/-, 1 do. at' £6. Passed in.— Twenty-six fat wethers at 27/6.
