CAR CRASHES INTO TELEGRAPH POLE
COMMUNICATION UPSET FOR TWO HOURS (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, December 21. Telegraphic and telephonic communication with the south was interrupted for nearly two hours this afternoon when a car driven by Peter McDonald, farmer, of Waihola, crashed into a pole on the Main South road at Otokia. The driver, his wife, and a boy, aged about 11, were cut by flying glass but were able to proceed home after attention by a doctor. The car was fairly badly damaged. The pole was knocked three feet out of alignment and although a gang of men set to work immediately, it was nearly two hours before communication with the south was restored.
