WORK ON AERODROME The contractors, Fulton and Hogan, of Dunedin, arrived this week with a tractor and an eight-yard carry-all to begin the work of laying off the Frankton aerodrome, which is expected to take about six months. Mr Fulton stated that some difficulty was met in negotiating some of the sharp bends on the Kingston road with the carryall. Mr A. Atley, the borough foreman, while working the newly-acquired motor-scythe in the cemetery, had his hand caught between the handle of the mower and a kerbing round one of the plots. It will be some time before he will be able to use his hand. LAWN TENNIS A non-competition tennis game was played between the Queenstown and Arrowtown clubs, Queenstown winning by 12 sets and 108 games to four sets and 67 games. Following are the results, Queenstown names being mentioned first;— Women’s singles.—Miss E. Davies lost to Miss Romans, 2-7; Mrs P. Stanton beat Mrs Stevenson, 7-5; Miss M. Mclnnes beat Mrs James, 7-1; Miss D. Harris lost to Miss M. Pittiway, 5-T Men’s singles.—G. Morris beat R. Romans, 9-1; C. Breen beat W. Dalrymple, 9-0; D. McCorkindale beat E. A. Pearce, 9-2; C. H. McKay beat A. fit’s 9—3 Combined doubles.—Miss E. Davies

and G. Morris beat Miss Romans and R. Romans, 7-6; Mrs Stanton and C. Breen beat Mrs Stevenson and Pearce, 7-4; Miss M. Mclnnes and D. McCorkindale lost to Mrs James and Dalrymple, 3-7; Miss D. Harris and McKay beat Miss Pittiway and Dakers, 7-4. Men’s doubles.—Morris and Breen beat Romans and Pearce, 9-2; McCorkindale and McKay beat Dalrymple and Dakers, 9-1. Women’s doubles.—Misses Davies and Stanton beat Miss Romans and Mrs Stevenson, 7-4; Misses Mclnnes and Harris lost to Mrs James and Miss Pittiway, 2-7. The Queenstown men played very consistently and were much superior to their opponents. Of the Arrowtown women, Miss Pittiway, a young player, showed promise.
