LODGE MEETING

ANCIENT ORDER OF DRUIDS The half-yearly meeting of the Acorn Lodge (Ancient Order of Druids) was held in the Friendly Societies hall, Tay street. A.D. Bro. J. Ward presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. Among the official visitors were D.P. Bro. S. Longley and A.D. Bro. A. Cummings and officers of the Oak of Waikiwi Lodge. The balance-sheet submitted for the half-year showed that the total contributions received were £647 1/4, sick pay paid out was £444 5/-, surgeon and chemist fees £352 4/—, maternity benefits £7B, and funeral claims £320. The social committee reported that arrangements for the members Christmas tree treat, which is to be held at an early date, were well in hand. D.P. Bro. S. Frampton; 1.G., Bro. F. Cook; C.G., Bro. R. Fretwell; A.D.B.s, Bros. A. Hagen and A. Sands; V.A.B.s, Bros. J. Hastie and A. Boyd; minute secretary, Bro. J. D. Gregg; organist, Bro. A. Sherborne; steward, Bro. J. Crofts; dispensary delegates, Bros. A Sherborne and J. D. Gregg; grand lodge representatives, Bros. F. C. Barham and G. Frampton. On behalf of the lodge D.P. Bro. Langley presented P.A. Bro. W. Frampton with a framed diploma for services he had given in passing through the various lodge chairs.
