Two hundred boys ranging in age from six to 14 took part in experiments when experts from the British Home Office attended Dr -Barnado’s Boys’ Garden City, Woodford Bridge, to conduct gas-mask fitting trials. Although Nova Scotia’s grain harvest has suffered from drought, the apple crop, estimated at one and a-half million barrels, has not been affected and the first shipment of 45,000 barrels has arrived in London.
