THE WEATHER SCATTERED SHOWERS OR MISTY RAIN
(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, December 7. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— , Moderate to fresh east to north winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, with scattered showers or misty ram. Seas slight to moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast: Weather cloudy to overcast and in places misty with scattered rain in most districts, but some heavy falls probable in northern and • northeastern portions of the North Island. Temperatures mild to warm. General Situation.—A shallow cyclone is centred today to the north-west of Cape Maria van Diemen and the pressure is low also over the greater portion of the Tasman and south-eastern Winds.—Northerly to easterly over the North Island and easterly to southeasterly in the south; force light to moderate mainly, but strong at times in the far north and later freshening generally. , Seas. —New Zealand waters, rough north of East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate, but rising between Cook Strait and East Cape; eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to strong winds between north-east and south-east prevailing, seas moderate to rather rough.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was warm and fine. A light southerly wind was blowing. At one o’clock this morning the weather was clear and cool, with no wind. The barometei readings for the last three mornings are as follows: This morning (rising) 29.73 in Tuesday 29.76 in Monday 29.60 in
