“MODERN MUSIC”
EXAMINER TO GIVE LECTURE A lecture on “Modem Music” is to be given by Dr E. Markham Lee, examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music, London, in the Victoria hall on Monday evening next. Dr Lee has judged at various musical festivals in Britain and does a considerable amount of musicalliterary work. Of late years Dr Lee has given much time to composition, more particularly works of an educational character. Of more than 200 published compositions the majority are for the pianoforte, designed to instruct as well as to interest, with a considerable proportion of pieces of elementary difficulty. Dr Lee is also well known for his part-songs for equal voices such as “The Dream Seller” and “The Shepherd’s Holiday and for his arrangement and adaptations of standard works for the junior pianist. ______
