NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE’S ATTITUDE (United Press Association) HASTINGS, December 6. Referring further to his recent statement about the New Zealand Alliance’s attitude to after-hour hotel cases, Mr H. W. Milner, general superintendent of the alliance, corrected the statement published that it was not the duty of the alliance to give evidence enabling the police to secure convictions. He pointed out that the concluding sentence of his statement was: “The New Zealand Alliance will assist better law enforcement in every way possible, but it is the work of the police to gather evidence and secure convictions to restrain law-breaking.
