DESTRUCTION DONE IN STORE

THREE BOYS COMMITTED TO INSTITUTION (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 4. On Saturday night, November 20, and again subsequently, Woolworths’ shop in Willis street was broken into and goods taken, but this was of little consequence alongside the fact that damage to the extent of £lOO on the first occasion and nearly that on the second occasion was done, and the counters disarranged. This morning in the Juvenile Court, three boys, aged 10, 12 and 13 years, were before the Magistrate, Mr J. L. Hewitt, about the affair. Detective-Sergeant Doyle said that in all his experience he had never known a juvenile offence as serious. The Magistrate: They went mad? Mr Doyle: Absolutely, sir. He added that there was no chance of any substantial restitution. The Magistrate: They will have to be put into an ' institution. It is no good talking to them.
