Violent thunderstorms caused disastrous floods in the northern and central districts of Victoria, and the floods destroyed thousands of pounds worth of crops and drowned many head of cattle. West of Maryborough a body of water 200 yards wide and 15ft deep swept down on 60 farms, drowning the stock and washing out hundreds of acres of standing crops.
