NEW HIGH COMMISSIONER (Received December 4, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 3. The King has approved the appointment of Sir Harold Mac Michael as High Commissioner and Commander-in-Chief for Palestine and High Commissioner for Transjordan, in succession to Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Arthur Wauchope, who will relinquish his appointment at the end of February.

Sir Harold Mac Michael has been Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Tanganyika Territory since 1934. He was political and intelligence officer with the expeditionary force which reoccupied Darfur in 1916.
