THE MATAURA VALLEY ASSOCIATION Under threatening weather, the Mataura Valley Tennis Association’s competition was begun Tha teams that were strongest last season again won matches, with the exception of Mimihau, which suffered defeat at the hands of Menzies Ferry. WYNDHAM D v. MOKORETA These teams met on the Wyndham Club’s courts, and Mokoreta was beaten in the first match in the competition by six sets, 37 games, to two sets, 24 games. Nevertheless, it put up quite a creditable performance, especially the top men, who, after being down 5-1, made a splendid recovery to win by 6-5.
