The laying of a mile of submarine cable from Rawhiti, Bay of Islands, to Otehei Bay, Urupukapuka Island, is expected to be completed shortly by the Post and Telegraph Department It will be a branch of the Russell-Capt Brett line, and will provide both telephonic and telegraphic communication with the fishing camp at Otehei Bay The new telegraph office will be known as the Oethei Bay office. In addition, the Postmaster-General, the Hon F Jones, recently authorized the laying of a telephone cable to connect Kawau Island with tire mainland.
