VILLAGES WRECKED AFTER TERRIFIC RAINS (Received October 31, 6.30 p.m.) DAMASCUS, October 30. Over 1000 persons lost their lives and 1000 are homeless as a result of floods which destroyed several villages after terrific rains. 30 FRENCH VILLAGES UNDER WATER (Received October 31, 6.30 p.m.) PARIS, October 30. Floods in the Ariege department of the South of France swept- away 20 bridges and inundated 30 villages, many of which were destroyed.
