Mr G. T. Stevens left for Timaru by the express last evening. The Hon. T. O’Byrne, M.L.C., left for Wellington by the express last evening Mr James Hargest, M.P. for Awarua, returned to his home at Rakauhauka on Saturday evening. He will leave for Wellington by the express tomorrow morning. Captain A. T. Simmie, vice-president of the Luzon Stevedoring Company, Ltd., Manila, who has been visiting New Zealand during a Pacific tour, left Auckland for Sydney by the Mariposa. Mr G. A. Parker, manager of the overseas edition of The Daily Mirror, London, who has been touring New Zealand on a combined Holiday and business trip, left Auckland for Sydney by the Awatea. Mr Stanley Oliver, of Wellington, conductor of the Royal Wellington Choral Union and the Schola Cantorum, has been appointed chief adjudicator in choral music at the great New South Wales Eisteddfod, to be held at Sydney in April next during the sesqui-centenary celebrations. Captain R. Harrison, D. 5.0., R.D., R.N.R., commodore of the P. and O. Line’s fleet, has been appointed commander of the company’s new liner Stratheden, which will leave London on December 24 on her maiden voyage to Australia. Captain Harrison has recently commanded the Strathmore.
