CLOTHING TRADE
DUNEDIN MANUFACTURERS VERY BUSY (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 30. Referring to the Auckland telegram about slackness in the clothing trade the manager of a large manufacturing business stated this morning that in Dunedin pretty well all the manufacturers were busy and could not jet enough hands. Increased wages and shorter hours had created a sudden rush and many retailers and manufacturers had made plans for rather more than was necessary so that retailers were becoming stocked up and it was inevitable that the gradually fictitious demand caused by the new conditions would become filled up.
