TOWN IN GIPPSLAND TO BE EVACUATED HOMES NEAR MELBOURNE INUNDATED (United Press Assn.— Telegraph Copyright) (Received October 19, 10.10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, October 19. Continuous rains caused serious flooding in central and eastern Victoria. A gigantic wall of water is approaching Kooweerup, in Gippsland, and a special train has been rushed to evacuate the inhabitants. Floods in the Yarra valley caused heavy losses of stock and serious damage to farms. Many homes near Melbourne are inundated. However, there has been no rain in the metropolitan area since 9 o’clock last night; most of the rivers and creeks are receding and the peril of a general flcyd appears to have passed. The Yarra overflowed near Kew and reached the doorsteps of houses. The water partly covered three golf courses and seriously damaged the market garOne hundred square miles of rich fields and farms are inundated in southern Gippsland.
