RETURNED SOLDIERS

INVERCARGILL ASSOCIATION At a meeting of the executive committee of the Invercargill Returned Soldiers’ Association, Mr J. Roderique (president) was in the chair and the following members were present: Dr A. W. Owen-Johnston, Messrs H. Ritchie, H. Mackenzie, S. Richards, R. Grieve, P. L. Hodge, A. Kynaston and J. S. Filippini (secretary). The secretary reported having sent out to soldier settlers a number of circulars and question papers dealing with a land settlement policy. It was agreed to hold a meeting in Invercargill of those interested in land settlement when the papers had been returned. The secretary reported that a good number of entries had been received from ex-servicemen golfers for the tournament to be held at Queen’s Park on Monday next (Labour Day). It was decided that a church parade be held on Sunday evening, November 14, to Knox Church. The hospital visiting committee reported that there were nine ex-ser-vicemen receiving treatment at the hospital, and all appeared to be progressin.- favourably. Messrs Mackenzie and Grieve were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing term.
