YACHT ENDEAVOUR ADRIFT

APPREHENSION FELT FOR SAFETY (Received September 17, 9.30 pan.) BOSTON, September 16. Apprehension concerning the Endeavour I prompted the assignment of two additional cutters to the search. It is reported that the Endeavour broke away during a gale which reached 105 miles an hour.

The opinion is expressed that the weight of the nine-inch hawser might have forced the Endeavour’s nose under the water.

A wireless message from Mr T. O. M. Sopwith stated that Endeavour I, while being towed to England, broke loose on Tuesday night, approximately 200 miles east of Long Island, and was still missing. The coastguard cutters Cayuga and Dhelan left Boston on a search for the Endeavour.
