Cut out in one piece the outer part of the lift, bend to shape (see sketch in upper right-hand comer) and paste as directed. Cut along the black lines at the top, at the centre, and at bottom of the doors so that these open freely. Cut out lift cage, bend to shape, and paste B to Bas shown. Now pierce a hole through each of the black dots and thread through them a length of black cotton, tying this securely at one end. Thread the other end of the cotton through the ring of a safety-pin fixed as shown in the sketch. Note carefully that the cotton should be just long enough to allow the counterweight halfpenny (see sketch) to rest on the ground when the lift cage is at the top floor. To set the lift in motion, lift the counterweight gently between your forefinger and thumb, letting it hang loose over the side of the' lift when you want ft to stop.
