GOLF CLUB DRAW FOR CANADIAN FOURSOME The draw of the Gore Golf Club for a Canadian foursome match to be played on Saturday is as follows, fours to be arranged at the links:—Corpiack and Hawke; Steans and Hargraeve; Reid and Feast; McLeod and Kidd; Barsdell and Caverhill; Smith and Thomson; Ritchie and L. Wilson; Bishop and Tansley; Taylor and Barron; Doughty and Wylie; Aitken and McCaughan; McGregor and A. Wilson; Atkins and N. Young; Martin and Price; McQuillan and Hunter; Stevenson and Dolamore; Mitchell and . Anderson; Milne and Milson; Campbell and Hunt; Cochrane and Parsons. RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION At the fortnightly meeting of the executive of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association there were present: — Messrs S. Paterson (president), E. J. Columb, A. L. McDowell, A. C. Steel, P. R. Stewart, M. Green, F. M. Murray, J. Adams, J. McQueen, C. M. Wilson, W. D. Shelton, and G. L. Gerken (secretary) . Before the beginning of the business motions of sympathy were carried with Mr W. D. Shelton in the death of his brother, and with Mr G. L. Sadd in the death of his father. The secretary reported that the financial membership now stood at 348, compared with 336 last meeting night, and 336 for the same period last year In the membership competition between the sub-associations, West Otago and Mataura, the former was leading with 60 financial members compared with Mataura’s 28. The Rev. A. T. Kent, wrote stating that the Gore Ministers together with the Gore Rotary Club, were desirous of providing an outing for sick, aged and crippled people in and around Gore. It was hoped that a motor drive might be arranged late in November. He stated that he would be glad to receive the names and addresses of any such people known to the members of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association, who would benefit by such an outing. The matter was left to the secretary to attend to. PERSONAL Mr C. L. King, of Gore, who leaves on Saturday to take up a new appointment at Wellington, was farewelled by cricketers from all parts of Eastern Southland in the Soldiers’ Club Rooms. Mr P. R. Mallon presided and those present included officials of the Eastern Southland Cricket Sub-Association and the Celtic, Gore, Mataura, Waikoikoi and Pukerau clubs and other sporting bodies. The chairman presented Mr King with a gentleman’s toilet outfit and said that Mr King had represented Southland, had been secretary of die Eastern Southland Cricket Sub-Association for seven years and a selector, had been secretary of the Celtic Club for several years and had devoted much time to coaching the younger players. Other speakers included Messrs J. J. Perry, W. D. Shelton, O. J. Howells, A,. D. Reid, L. G. Townsend, T. P. Bogue, W. J. Spittle, A. H. Smith, D. M. McLeod, J. Taylor, W. Macara, J. J. Corcoran, J. C. Jopp, A. N. Mac Gibbon, J. Currie and many others. Mr King replied.
