THE CALEDONIA AGAIN CROSSES ATLANTIC
AVERAGE SPEED OF 128 MILES AN HOUR (British Official Wireless) (Received September 15, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, September 14. The Imperial Airways flying-boat Caledonia arrived at Botwood (Newfoundland) after an Atlantic crossing for which her average speed was approximately 128 miles an hour. The flying-boat was again aided by meteorological forecasts and wireless communications, and the thumb-line course set enabled her to skirt the northern side of the anti-cyclone area from the Azores. She averaged between 135 and 140 miles an hour for the greater part of the journey.
