PRICES DECLINE IN SEVERAL GRADES (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, August 24. At the fortnightly sale of sheepskins today prices declined slightly on most grades of finer-wooled sound pelted skins, the top price for fine halfbred being 173 d as against 17Jd last sale. Halfbreds and fine crossbreds may be quoted at Ad lower. MARKET MORE ACTIVE (Received August 24, 8.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 24. Greater activity was manifest on the Stock Exchange today and the tone of the market was healthy.

DAIRY PRODUCE MARKETS

By arrangement with the Primary Products Marketing Department the following information is supplied by the New Zealand Dairy Board:— Butter.—New Zealand salted, 114/— to 115/- (115/- to 116/-); New Zealand unsalted, 115/- to 117/- (116/- to 118/-); deliveries New Zealand, 1450 tons; in store New Zealand, 5936 tons; includes 1754 tons from the Waipawa and the Sydney Star. The market is steadier at the close. New Zealand retail price Is unchanged at 1/3. Australian salted, 113/- to 114/- (114/- to 115/-); Australian unsalted, 114/- to 115/- (115/- to 116/-); deliveries Australian, 1291 tons; in store Australian, 4433 tons; Irish Cream salted, 116/(117/- to 118/-). The market is steady. Danish 106/- f.0.b., 126/- spot (104/- to 124/-); Dutch unsalted, 107/- to 109/(108/- to 112/-); Siberian salted, 107/— to 110/- (110/-); Polish salted and unsalted, 106/- (106/- to 109/-); Lithuanian salted and unsalted, 110/(112/-). The market is quiet. The Danish retail prices unchanged at 1/3. The Imeprial Economic Committee’s estimated stocks of all butters in store is 934,099 boxes. Last year it was 969,010 boxes. Cheese.—New Zealand white, 67/- to 68/- (69/6 to 70/-); New Zealand coloured, 65/- to 66/- (67/6 to 68/-); deliveries New Zealand, 14,513 crates; in store New Zealand, 47,463 crates; includes 7750 crates on the Pakeha. Australian white, 66/6. The market is steady. There is a better demand at lower prices. New Zealand retail prices are unchanged at 9d to lOd. Canadian white, 69/- to 70/- (57/- to 59/-); Canadian c.i.f., 66/- (67/6); old season’s white, 80/- (80/- to 82/-); deliveries Canadian, 7653 boxes; in store Canadian, 117,969 boxes. The market is steady and there is a better demand at the lower prices. English finest farmers, 88/- to 90/- (88/- to 90/-); English factory cheese, 70/- (57/- to 59/-); South African coloured, 66/- to 67/-. Cheese prices are firm. STOCKS OF EGGS AND EGG-PULP (United Press Association) ■ WELLINGTON, August 24. A census of stocks of eggs and eggpulp in cold storage was taken by the Government Statistician as at July 31 and the following figures have been issued by the Minister in Charge of the Census and Statistics Department (the Hon. W. Nash). The figures are for the North Island, the South Island and the Dominion respectively:—Eggs in shell (oz) 960, 370, 1330; egg-pulp (lb) 41,840, 48,455, 90,295; egg white (lb) 440, 2300, 2740. McNAB STOCK SALE The fortnightly McNab stock sale was held yesterday when there was a very small entry forward. Sales were:— National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd.—Eighty ewe hoggets at 39/9. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd — 'fen f. and f.m. ewes at 16/-. Southland Farmers’ Co-operative Association Limited.—Ten fat wethers at 39/-, 2 do at 34/9, 8 do at 37/3, 1 fat cow at £l. MINING RETURNS RIMU DREDGE (United Press Association) HOKITIKA, August 24. The Rimu Dredge return was 377.2 crude ounces for 125 hours’ work and 47,184 yards treated.
