turning to Bluff this afternoon. The Port Line steamer Port Adelaide finished working last night and sailed for Timaru. A . The Port Line has received cabled advice that the Port Brisbane, en route from > New York to Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin, cleared Balboa on Thursday. She is due at Auckland on September 2. ' The Norwegian-Australian Line motorship Titania (6750 tons) arrived in Australia on her maiden passage from Gothenburg recently. She was launched at Maimo this year, and replaces an earlier ship of the same name. With a service speed of 16>/4 knots, the Titania recorded 19.8 knots on her trials. Equipped with all modem navigational facilities, the Titania has excellent accommodation for 12 passengers. With two sister ships. Tatra and Tarifa, she was specially built for the Australian wool trade, and will make the homeward run fully laden at an average speed of about 17 knots.

SOUTH ISLAND-MELBOURNE SERVICE The first sailing of the Maunganui, which Is taking the place of the Maraina in the three-weekly Wellington-South Island-Mel-bourne service during the coming summer will be from Wellington on October 26 for Bluff, leaving Bluff for Melbourne on October 28. This sailing will provide an excellent opportunity for visitors for the Melbourne Cup, the Maunganui arriving at Melbourne on Monday, November 1, the day before the race. The Maunganui, which is a vessel ,of 7500 tons gross register, will continue in the service, which includes calls at Melbourne, Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton. Wellington and Bluff, until early -n April 1938. If weather conditions are suitable calls will be made at Milford Sound each trip on the way from Bluff to Melbourne and from Melbourne to Bluff.
