WELL PLEASED WITH VISIT
MAYOR INTERVIEWED IN WELLINGTON (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, July 16. After three full days in consultation with Ministers of the Crown and departmental heads the Mayor of Invercargill (Mr John. Miller) and the Town Clerk (Mr W. F. Sturman) left by the steamer-express on their return this evening well pleased with the result of their visit. A number of matters of considerable importance to Invercargill was ventilated and before departure Mr Miller, in an interview, expressed satisfaction at the outcome.
“Although finality on these matters could not be expected in such a short time,” said Mr Miller, “we feel that on the whole, very • satisfactory results have been obtained. Detailed reports will be prepared when we return and submitted to the council for its consideration. We conferred with the Audit and Transport Departments and Depreciation Fund Commissioner about the proposed change-over from trams to buses and we are pleased with the information we have obtained. It will, we hope, clarify the position when the problem is again before the council.” Mr Miller added that he had also interviewed the Health Department on several matters about the Hospital Board..
