SOUTH ISLAND DOG TRIALS

FIRST EVENT COMPLETED (United Press Association) BLENHEIM, June 17. After two and a-half days the first event at the South Island collie dog trials was completed early this after - noon, a total of 84 dogs running. The weather was brilliant on the first day but was cold and showery yesterday. It is fine but overcast today. The NewZealand championships will follow the completion of the South Island events. Results were:

SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP; Heading, Bringing Back and Holding in Ring. Possible points, 60. R. J. Wiffen’s Bet (Dannevirke), 57Jpts 1 W. Whyte’s Boy (Napier), 57pts 2 R. M. Wilson’s Fly (Kirwee), 55pte 3 G. McMullan’s Stan (Waipawa), 541pts 4 Also competed—E. Rutherford’s Speed (Waikari) 54pts; J. Mead’s Bill Bailey (Nelson) 53Jpts; M. A. Mathieson’s Scot (Middlemarch). 52Jpts. All these dogs qualify to contest the New Zealand championship.
