SCHOOL BUSES IN SOUTHLAND
MAINTAINED IN ADEQUATE REPAIR A flat denial that school buses in Southland were in a bad state of repair as such buses in Canterbury were stated to be by Mr T. H. Langford, the No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority, in a Press Association telegram from Christchurch published yesterday, was given by the secretary of the Southland Education Board (Mr H. T. Thompson) yesterday. Mr Thompson said that a certificate of fitness had to be obtained for all school buses and the vehicles were subject to stringent regulations requiring them to be maintained in an adequate condition of repair for the safety of children passengers The board was thoroughly satisfied that all school buses in Southland were maintained in a proper state of repair.
