THE HUNTER ESTATE

GROSS MISMANAGEMENT ALLEGED (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 17. Gross mismanagement of the estate of the late Sir George Hunter was alleged in the Supreme Court today by the widow, Edith May Hunter, against the trustees—Cyril Paul Hunter and Thomas Percy Hunter, nephews of the deceased.

Plaintiff is seeking their removal from the trusteeship because of her allegations, which are denied by them. Several grounds of action are set out, and the case is expected to last a fortnight. The first witness, Oscar Monrad Farmer, a land valuer and supervisor at Palmerston North, said he had inspected the Porangahau estate. He formed the opinion that there were too many leakages and too much loss. He was not at all satisfied with the management. Considering the number of hands employed the results were nothing like what one might reasonably expect from an efficient station.

The court adjourned until tomorrow.
